Bumpdate – Pregnancy – Week 22&23

Pregnancy – Week 22&23

This week’s life update:

I have been trying to finish up a few projects before my out of town guests arrive so that I can devote my time and attention to relationships and not projects.

My gardening had been postponed due to poor weather and an unsatisfactory flower selection, but I was forced to accelerate my efforts between rain falls in order to salvage whatever flowers I had left. I am so happy with how my garden turned out and now I am just waiting for them to bloom and grow! (HomeDepot had some of the best and most reasonably priced selection! Most of my plants were from Costco, but the “special” breeds were from HomeDepot.) I will post some photos soon!

I pushed pretty hard these past two weeks to get “everything” done and now I am ready to relax for a week. Seriously, I would go from dawn till dusk and even [gasp] skip nap time. Which is never a wise idea.

It’s funny that with this second baby and pregnancy, even at this stage of 22-23 weeks, I feel like I won’t be able to direct my attention to preparing for labour, newborn care and general change of life until I’m at least 7 months pregnant. I am so blessed that I have such a great support system. My husband is so hands on with my daughter. They love their Home Depot runs, Lego building time and chase games around the kitchen. He is also so understanding of my need for naps, both when I am pregnant and simply just me. (Maybe because I am a total hag otherwise. I get sl-angry. AKA Sleep-Angry.) My midwifery care also has classes that will start in June to prepare for birth. They are called “centering” classes. I am so glad to have someone walk me through this and help me prepare when my mind just feels too full to do it on my own. I believe my previous birth was so positive based on this support. To have a completely unmedicated birth with little recovery time is not typically heard of!

Belly button – out or in: Is flattening an option?

Stretch marks: None yet

Gender prediction: Baby. Any predictions on your end my friends?!?!

Sleep: I can sleep anywhere, anytime. I even fell asleep watching the season finale of Masterchef Canada! [Devastating]

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach.

What I am looking forward to: A visit from my German in-laws! And Hazel (toddler) being influenced further by the German language.

Maternity clothes: Lululemon shorts and big t-shirts. No maternity clothes this week. I like to move when I garden, so I am still squeezing into my workout wear!

Nesting: Just about done painting the main floor bathroom with my amazing mother. I seriously do not know how this woman is not on HGTV for home renos! We have done the base coat and next the herringbone stencil …. yes, stencil.

To dos: I need to make a chiropractor appointment. My tailbone is re-living birth …

Cravings:

Aversions:

  • My fish oil vitamins
  • Sweet things in the morning
