BUMPDATE – PREGNANCY – WEEK 26&27

This week’s life update:

27 weeks

We have had a bit of a heat wave this past weekend. I am not complaining – I love hot weather, but it’s been hard to cool down this pregnant lady come bed time. We are also in the process of finishing our basement, so sneaking downstairs to cool off has not been a viable option.

My poor husband. He finds me curled up in the strangest places when he retreats to bed. His concern is actually rather endearing.  guess it is rather shocking when you find you pregnant wife laying on your toddler’s bedroom floor (in front of her super powered fans), hidden next to the master bed on the floor, on the guest room floor … basically, any floor with a breeze or fan is fair game to find a pregnant lump these days.

I have been trying to remember how tired I was at this stage during my first pregnancy. I was working full time and therefore did not have a daily quiet or nap time (seriously, how did I survive?!) and I know I pushed myself in different ways. Everyone says it is the toddler factor that is contributing to my fatigue, but I still don’t feel that is the case. If anything, she has made my days slower and more relaxed. I plan on talking to the midwives and naturopath in the upcoming weeks, just to make sure there is nothing off track (iron levels, blood sugar levels etc.). And I keep reminding myself: every pregnancy is different. And that’s ok.

Belly button – out or in: As out as it can be! It’s now a flush, round circle. Weird. This didn’t happen last time!

Stretch marks: None to date.

Gender prediction: Maybe it’s a boy … this pregnancy has been so different!

Sleep: I am becoming much more restless at night. I don’t know if that is due to the sun being out late, summer heat, pregnancy or all of the above!

What I miss: Creative time at 7 pm. Once 7 p.m. hits, I also clock out for the night …

What I am looking forward to: I saw a lady wearing her newborn in a ring sling at the grocery store the other day. I love new born cuddles!

Maternity clothes: Forget clothes – to the beach we go! Swimsuits, please.

Tailbone update: My tailbone still gets quite sore. If I sit too long, or with poor posture, that is a recipe for pain. I have been going to the Dr. for Moms Chiropractic Clinic (in Calgary) twice a week for adjustments. I also plan on taking newborn babe and myself to the Chiropractor post-delivery for preventative purposes (I did this after my daughter’s birth and would highly recommend it!).

Note: there is child care during your adjustment! No excuses!

Nesting: I finally went to Home Depot to pick up a few paint chips. I will try round up my mom to go to Benjamin Moore with me after the upcoming long weekend to peruse a few more colour options. I have to find mint, white and navy that all have similar tones to accomplish my vision. Wish me luck!

To dos: Sooooooo my list of to dos is way too long and I might get overwhelmed listing them here. But, I will list a few anyway:

  • Check expiry date on bucket car seat
  • Buy car seat adapter for City Select stroller
  • Sell Valco stroller
  • Research (and buy) new born cloth diaper rental

Cravings:

  • Watermelon
  • Mojitos (sans alcohol)
  • Dino-sours (I texted one of my BFFs to reminisce about going to the gas station for 5 cent candies. CRAVING!)
  • Sleep
  • Home decor magazines
