I’m turning into my Mom! Oh, no? Oh yes! If you know me, then you’ll know I think the world of my mom. And I grin each time I discover that one of my preferences is actually hers.
Case in point, I like drinking my coffee from a clear mug. I like to see my coffee. I like to know – with my eyes – that my coffee is the right shade of rich golden nectar and that I’ve stirred in just enough milk. Yup – just like my mom. Except she likes her coffee black.
These parenting days are wonderfully exhausting and mostly sleep deprived. And brain deprived. And water deprived. Because I thrive on that coveted solo coffee during nap time, a quality bag of coffee beans is my love language.

Apart from coffee being my love language, thoughtfulness is how my love-tank is filled. When my mom takes pictures of a new Scandinavian shop in Inglewood which she’s sure I’ll totally swoon over; when my husband shoots me a text saying he misses me; when my neighbour takes my toddler for an hour so I can have some one-on-one time with my baby because she knows these moments are few and far between … I know I matter. I know they care. I know they are really loving on me.
I had bumped into Rachel Allene a few times in the online world. I was first introduced to her polished product on Brittany Robertson’s Instagram, later we unknowingly participated in a social media course together where I fell in love with her transparency. Most recently, I’ve become an avid follower of her articulate blog, intuitive styling ability and wide-open heart.
