LEADING FROM THE FRONT

I’ve been part of this Beautycounter thing for just over 2.5 years now.

It has been a steep learning curve and success has been built on a mountain top of failures.

I dont’ think we can truly mentor and coach without leading from the front. Without being in the (proverbial) trenches.

I coach from the heart. Meaning we work through a lot of self-stuff. Preconceived notions, fears, judgments… but also joy, ambition, passion, identity and purpose.

I’m a firm believer that we start with serving our communities well. That we love our neighbour as ourself – which means YOU’RE allowed to provide an amazing product and YOU’RE allowed be paid fairly. That you don’t need to apologize for the price of your service, you don’t need to make yourself small to validate “what you do” and that you are worthy of good things. Can I get an AMEN? You can love YOU and OTHERS. #you’renotacharity

From day one, I’ve wanted to invite others along with me. I wanted to put money back into womens’ pockets. I wanted women to know if they wanted this – Beautycounter (and otherwise) – they could do it. I wanted women to know they are powerful, worthy, and capable. I was known for a tilted business – where my sales were the PITS, but my team would grow exponentially because I would leave “no man behind”, with this grass roots movement and amazing business opportunity. (Thankfully, I worked through my sales “issues” and now rock it with service, authenticity, authority and passion!)

I work alongside and help empower ~200 women every day. And our table is long …. so pull up a chair! Our movement and business is SOO grassroots in many ways and completely unsaturated and such little awareness of what goes on our bodies … we need more voice to evoke change. We can’t do this alone.

I’ve had a few phone calls and messages this week about what is involved in joining Beautycounter. What is the start up cost? What is the commitment? How do we work together? So with that, I’ve written this blog post to answer questions:

#1 – Select a Mentor and Sign Up

If you’re looking to partner with me, you will type in my name, Dallas Spiecker, and select me as your mentor. #workbuds

The cost is $98 to become a consultant. Think of the sign up fee like a Costco membership. This let’s you shop at a discount but also let’s you build a business. When you sign up, you receive the UNICORN serum (overnight resurfacing peel), the 9-5 lip intense, website and marketing swag.

#2 – Order your products

We have starter sets that discounted at sign up time of sign up. Think 40% discounted. You and I would have a conversation about goals and purpose. If you’re looking to grow business, then I coach to a minimum of the middle starter set. (Simply put: it’s hard to launch a business without product.)

#3 – Make a plan

Now what…? How much time do you have? When do you think you can squeeze in some time? How much money do you want to make? Then we work together to set some actionables. You don’t need to know it all right away and TRUST me … my hours a super flexible, but not optional if I want this to truly be a business. I fit things around gymnastics, school runs, naps and coffee dates. It fits in my life, it fits around my life and it suits the flexibility I want for my life.

#4 – Start where you are, talk with your mentor, and use the training

We have amazing product knowledge and business training available to you, but you also have me to point you to resources …. and I am ALSO a pretty fab resource. We will have calls to touch base, dream, plan and yup – trouble shoot. #nosuchthingasplanA

MORE FAQS

ARE THERE MONTHLY MINIMUMS OR REQUIRED PURCHASES?

Nope! You are not required to make any monthly purchases, auto ships, etc. However, you are required to obtain 1,200 QV (approx 10-12 sales) in a 6 month period. Most people hit this in the first 3-4 months. You also could purchase the 1,200 yourself … but I don’t know many people who do that!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T HIT THAT MINIMUM?

Nothing! You just get bumped from Consultant status to being a Band of Beauty member – which is still a great program to be a part of!

ARE THERE ANY CONSULTANT PERKS?

We shop at 25% off all the time and we also receive even steeper discounts on new launches. Often 30-40% off!

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MONEY

We make 25-35% in commission. If you sold $1000 (approx 10 sales) every month you’d make $320. We can talk about the compensation plan in detail on our call, but this is the baseline!

WHAT’S THE EARNING POTENTIAL?

You are in control of your income. So the sky is the limit. I started out wanting to replace my maternity leave. I wanted to be able to stay home with my kids while still brining in some money on the side. I had NO idea I would be able to replace a full-time income.

I DON’T HAVE A TON OF TIME!

Me neither! I joined with a 3 year old, a 1 year old, a blog and a new full-time position at the office. It had to fit into my life. What your water, grows. So I was more strategic with my time. I didn’t use social media a ton, I mostly just rallied women together, put on a kettle of tea or we cracked open a bottle of wine, and tested out some product. I can also coach you on my failures of how I wasn’t using my time well and how cut back on your hours. Consider this one of my skills that I had to hone.

I LAUGH when people are like “I don’t do parties…”. Girl, I also don’t do parties. I AM THE PARTY. Jk.

But are we so devoid of human relationship that we don’t want to share things we love with our community, get together, talk about life, share an experience, sip a beverage, and have fun? Please tell me if I become “that person” … the doesn’t want to join in with my girlfriends to hang out, have fun, learn and change the world. If that becomes who I am, I’ve lost myself. Please return me home.

I’M NOT A BLOGGER … CAN I SITLL DO THIS

This business and this movement is about people. My blog is now a tool but that is not how I launched my business or coached my team. SO YES.

WHAT WILL PEOPLE THINK

Everyone is entitled to their thoughts. We all sell something. Whether our nursing skills to the hospital, our design skills to a firm, or our cooking skills to a restaurant. We all sell something. It’s just a lot harder when our face is tied to something that feels personal. Do you judge how other people get paid or what they do for work? No? People are a lot more concerned about preserving their self-image than about what you’re doing living your life!
